David Rushworth-Smith

Pastor, Missionary, Preacher, and Biblical Expositor

David was converted on the 21st February 1947, at the age of nineteen, when he was just completing his studies, at Loughborough, in preparation for his career as a bus designer and transport manager.  He had attended church since the age of four, but this was a genuine evangelical conversion, and it changed everything.

Pastor

Six years later, and after he had become a recognised bus designer, and when he appeared to have a properous future in the transport industry, David was called into full-time Christian service, as both a pastor and an author.  Churches all over the world have since received benefit from David’s pastoral care, his preaching, teaching, and also his extensive literature.

Missionary

Travelling overseas, in order to visit pastors and churches, David has been to many countries, on most of the continents, with remarkable results.  He has always called himself a ‘literature missionary’, because he first sends out books, and then visits those who have read those books.  This pattern has meant that the ones he visited knew what to expect when he arrived!

David has visited some remote places, in which there are no hotels (of any kind), and so where ‘hospitality’ has been fairly basic.  These travels and escapades appear to have done him no permanent harm.  Over the years he has suffered bites from mosquitoes (more than a hundred in one day), yet without serious consequences.

Biblical Expositor

David’s style of speaking can only be described as that of a ‘biblical expositor’, because he regards this as the way in which the Saviour spoke.  When requested to speak on a particular subject (and often at very short notice!), those present have been intrigued to note that David quickly found a suitable verse in the Holy Scriptures, so that he could preach from inspired words which dealt with that particular subject!
